Nigerian-American music star Davido paid a courtesy call on President Julius Maada Bio at State House on Monday, praising Sierra Leone’s warmth and hospitality as he prepares to headline a major end-of-year concert in Freetown.
Born David Adedeji Adeleke, Davido is set to perform at Sugar Land Beach, for the Gbamgbaode show organised by Sierra Leoneans and expected to attract large crowds. The singer personally requested the visit to State House upon his arrival, reflecting his close ties to the country.
Speaking at the meeting, Davido said his stay in Sierra Leone had been “exceptional,” commending the country’s hospitality and security arrangements. He described Sierra Leone as his second home and pledged to return for future visits and performances, including after the completion of the National Stadium.
“We will definitely come back — not just to perform, but also to relax and spend time with family and friends here,” he said.
The concert, initially scheduled for Sunday, 21 December, was postponed to Monday to avoid clashing with the African Nations Cup opening ceremony. Davido assured fans the event would be well-coordinated and promised an outstanding performance.
President Bio welcomed Davido and his team, noting that many Sierra Leoneans are eagerly anticipating the concert. He thanked the organisers for staging what he described as a fitting end-of-year celebration and wished the artiste, his team, and attendees a safe and memorable event.
