FREETOWN — The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has confirmed it is closely monitoring and coordinating response to cybersecurity incidents affecting digital services across Sierra Leone, following mounting reports of disruptions to online platforms and communications networks in recent days.
The regulator said it is working with government institutions, law enforcement agencies, and licensed operators to mount a coordinated response as concerns grow over the scale and impact of the incidents.
In a public notice issued Wednesday, NatCA urged all communications service providers and digital platforms to strengthen their cybersecurity measures, promptly report incidents, and adhere to established security standards.
The Authority also advised members of the public to remain vigilant — avoiding suspicious links and messages, safeguarding personal information, and enabling multi-factor authentication where available.
“Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility,” the notice stated, adding that NatCA would continue to monitor the situation and provide updates through its official communication channels as necessary.
The regulator did not disclose the nature or scale of the incidents but emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen Sierra Leone’s cyber resilience in partnership with stakeholders.
